Joe Letz is the rhythmic backbone of the Till Lindemann live band. He made his name as the long-serving drummer of Aggrotech legends Combichrist (2006–2019). Since 2021 he has brought his physically punishing performance to Till Lindemann's solo project. He is not a classic background musician – he is a central part of the show's staging.
Letz has been closely tied to the Rammstein camp for over a decade. He toured as Combichrist on the LIFAD support slot, spent years as Rammstein's support DJ, and in 2019 even worked as Richard Kruspe's personal assistant. Worth noting: while he frequently appears in videos for Kruspe's band Emigrate, he does not play on the studio albums.
Live, Letz transforms into the grotesque character "Sandy Beaches". His trademark: a red latex outfit, female breast prosthetics, and often a surgical mouth retractor. His drum kit is typically positioned sideways to the audience edge, so fans can watch his aggressive playing style and performance antics unobstructed.
A central moment in the current show (2024/25) is the intro to "Fish On". In a bizarre sketch, Danny Lohner plays a surgeon performing an operation on Joe Letz and pulling fish from his body. Letz is also part of the notorious cake-throwing sequence during "Allesfresser".
