Daniel Patrick Lohner, known in the scene as Renholdër, is far more than a session musician. He is a veteran of industrial rock and has been a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 2020 as part of Nine Inch Nails.
Since December 2022, Lohner has been a permanent member of Till Lindemann’s solo band. He brings the dark, mechanical precision of the American 1990s industrial scene into Lindemann’s sound and serves as a link between U.S. industrial music and Neue Deutsche Härte.
As a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer, Lohner shaped the most influential phase of Nine Inch Nails, including The Downward Spiral and The Fragile. He later became a key figure in A Perfect Circle and, under the pseudonym Renholdër, created iconic remixes and film soundtracks, including work for Underworld and Resident Evil.
Lohner’s connection to the Rammstein universe is not new. As early as 2014, he collaborated with Richard Kruspe on Kruspe’s project Emigrate (song: “Hypothetical”). Since 2022, he has been performing on stage with Till Lindemann. For the Meine Welt Tour 2025, he made a surprising switch from bass to guitar.

In many bio databases, the false rumor persists that Danny Lohner remixed Rammstein’s “Mein Teil.” The truth is that no Lohner remix of this song exists.
The misunderstanding originated in 2004 with the soundtrack to Resident Evil: Apocalypse. On that album, Lohner’s remix for A Perfect Circle and Rammstein’s original track appeared on the same CD, leading to incorrect attributions.
Key takeaway: Lohner’s only confirmed studio collaboration with a Rammstein member prior to the Lindemann era is the song “Hypothetical” on Emigrate’s album Silent So Long.
